We Seek Win-Win Relations with Various Stakeholders.
We are continually developing win-win relationships with various stakeholders, including but not limited to shareholders, mass media, governments, NGOs/NPOs, and the general public. With our retailers we hope to seek mutual prosperity; with our suppliers we hope to sustain good relations by securing fair transactions. Moreover, to motivate employees even more the Corporation constantly improves its educational and welfare programs.
In compliance with Mizuno's CSR Procurement Code, we are committed to improving labor conditions and the workplace environment at our OEM plants. In addition to respect for basic human rights and compliance with laws & regulations, we monitor individual plants' commitments concerning labor conditions, health & safety, and environmental protection. During fiscal 2006, Mizuno conducted audits at 21 plants in China as well as 8 plants in 5 other countries. In fiscal 2007, audits were done at 19 plants in China and 7 in 4 other countries; in fiscal 2008, at 27 plants in China and 7 in 2 other countries. Audits in China were conducted by CSR managers at Shanghai Mizuno; audits in Southeast Asian countries were outsourced to a global auditing firm.

Mizuno expects that its suppliers observe applicable laws, standards and principles of their respective countries, as stipulated in Article 5 of the Guidelines of the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI), signed on September 1, 2002. To seek suppliers' understanding of these Guidelines, in May 2004 Mizuno adopted the Guiding Principles for Suppliers to the Mizuno Corporation, which we partially revised in March 2009 in line with ILO recommendations.
In compliance with the Guiding Principles for Suppliers to the Mizuno Corporation, Mizuno has adopted the Group Rule of Supply Chain Management, which stipulates the Corporation's CSR procurement criteria and related procedures, including labor audits and the evaluation of plant operations. The Group Rule comprises procedures for beginning and sustaining transactions. We intend to use this Group Rule in selecting our original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and extending OEM contracts. By reinforcing CSR procurement, Mizuno intends to promote "fair corporate activities" and "initiatives for social problems," comprising two of the three CSR themes.
