The Mizuno Group is committed to actively conserve the global environment through the following schemes: the Conservation of Resources and Environmental Wave 21 (CREW 21) project, launched in 1991; Mizuno Global Environmental Charter and environmental slogan, adopted in 1992; and the Mizuno Environmental Policy, formulated in 1999.
In 1997, Mizuno's Yoro Factory (now Mizuno Technics Corporation) became the first in the Japanese sporting goods industry to obtain ISO 14001 certification. By 2002 all our establishments in Japan (including 6 manufacturing subsidiaries) obtained the certification. In 2004 Shanghai Mizuno, our largest overseas operation, was certified, followed by Taiwan Mizuno in February 2008. All these establishments have renewed their registration. Mizuno will continue its efforts to fulfill its Environmental Policy.

From November 17 to 19, 2008, Mizuno received an ISO 14001 periodic assessment, conducted by an external assessment body. Despite receiving six recommendations for improvement, Mizuno's environmental initiatives were valued highly, particularly in terms of environmental information systems and employees' commitment to environmental protection.

During the annual Mizuno Global Environmental Week (June 1 -- 7), we cleaned the vicinity of our establishments in and outside Japan.

From June 19 to 22, 2008, Mizuno organized the Mizuno Open Yomiuri Classic 2008 at the Yomiuri Golf Country Club in Hyogo Prefecture. To ensure the event was eco-friendly, Mizuno used completely recyclable plastic cups for galleries. Meanwhile, the cups used at a Mizuno Classic golf tournament held in 2007 were recycled into polyester fibers and made into shopping bags. At the 2008 golf tournament, we handed these bags out to galleries. Moreover, waste paper was collected at the site and recycled.

Mizuno exhibits its environmentally friendly products at the this permanent exhibition for environmental businesses. The exhibition venue at Osaka ATC Green Eco Plaza is visited by many groups, ranging from schoolchildren to businesspersons. Through the display of our products at Mizuno's booth, we introduce our activities to conserve the global environment.
Environmental commitment at home

In addition to sorting wastes and bringing shopping bags instead of taking free plastic bags, I recently began using a bicycle instead of a car on holidays. I enjoy riding a bike since I can discover many interesting shops and buildings along the way, and stop and have a look whenever I feel like it.
Staff member responsible for environmental initiatives

I am responsible for the operation of order systems and exhibitions. At new model exhibitions, we use many panels, which we used to throw away after each event. However, we began reusing them at related facilities and retailers' shops. I'm planning to use eco-friendly fixtures and furniture, too, and do whatever I can that's good for the environment.
