- Reinforcing the brand power in Asian markets
The golf market is said to have fully matured in Japan, Europe and the United
States. However, in Asian regions, the participant population and markets
have tended to increase in the past several years, centering on the wealthy
classes, and Asian regions are strategically important areas for our golf
business.
We held baseball championships in 1911 and 1913, and they became predecessors
of today's Inter-City Baseball Competition and All-Japan High School Baseball
Championship, in order to disseminate baseball throughout Japan. Gateway to
the Open - Mizuno Dream Cup follows this concept, and by creating an environment
for playing golf, the number of people who can enjoy golf will increase and
that will aid us in our market-enhancing measures.
In addition, in Malaysia this March we opened the Mizuno Golf School.
We position Asia, an area that is expect to see sustainable growth, as an
important area for our golf business and we will boost our activities for
increased brand recognition and the exploration of new markets.
